Team Building in Edinburgh
10th January 2011
Earlier this year we were fortunate enough to work with one of our clients on a team building event in Edinburgh. The 2 day event was developed to get the team, who are based in 2 very separate locations, to build relationships and work together more effectively.
Day one kicked off at lunchtime with a ‘getting to know you session’ followed by a group discussion about a recent company survey and highlighted some team actions requried to start to improve on key issues. The session was enhanced by the use of voting technology supplied by Qwizdom, which enabled us to pose key questions and for respondees to reply anonymously. The networking continued into the evening with a formal dinner and an informal quiz which we provided.
Day two began with a session on personal growth. The group worked in small teams to identify the types of developemnt opportunities available and recognising their personal responsibilties in the development. Again, using the voting technology, we quickly assessed that feedback was a key issue in that it wasn’t being done very frequently, and when it was then it wasn’t always delivered skillfully or received graciously. This enabled us to run a session on feedback principles that morning.
The afternoon session got the group out and about through the completion of acity treasure hunt. Whilst fun, there was a real team focus required and the group had to work together to achieve success. The event culminated with a business update, review of learning and a final dinner. In all a very enjoyable and succesful event!
